What option, deposit, payment, cancelation and booking conditions are usual? First off, note that every single hotel or apartment has its own rules, so do not take these statements as granted for your selected property. In general, the longer time stands between first interest and planned tour term, the easier rules are. The further distance from direct city center location (that is under high demand), the easier rules are.
- In low season (November to mid March except Christmas time, New Years Eve, Valentines Day) we need about 4-8 weeks prior arrival to manage all, starting an option, deposit, payments. In mid season (July to mid August) we need about 8 - 10 weeks time frame, for high season (mid March to June, September to mid November) 3 - 4 months is needed. Top terms like Easters (March-April), Labor Day (May) and especially New Years Eve can be booked even 6 months in advance.
- Therefore, making an option for low season term can be taken up to 6 weeks, for mid season term 2 weeks, top term no more than 1 week usually. Setting up deposit payment (up to 100% of total amount) should be usually done within the option time, but no longer than 1 week after its ending.
- Cancellation policy is usually strictier for direct city center properties, in common you are free to cancel your group request about 6 weeks prior arrival without being charged (except bank transfer fees). You will get back about 50% of total booking fees when cancelling 4 weeks prior arrival and less than 25% 3 weeks or so. In case of no show or cancelling later than 2 weeks prior arrival, there is no refund for the whole charged amount. Event tickets are non refundable by default.
What about parking? Well, it is impossible to park a car for free in direct city center unless you are a local resident having a special passport (which the residents actually pay for). Having a car parking at hotel premises or at secured car parking place is therefore highly recommended, unless you want to enjoy dealing with municipal police having your car tow away. For buses - its enterance to direct city center can be even more difficult, some areas are forbidden even for loading/unloading. If this is the case, we can arrange your group (or just luggage) transfer with cars or minivans. Check our Prague Map and look for blue parking icons to get an idea where the bus, car or both parking facilities are.
What are other bottlenecks? In general, high demand events (e.g. international football match, pop star concerts, business exhibitions, national bank holidays) may cause the shortage for both, the accommodation and tickets, at the same time. The only workaround is to plan the trip to Prague ahead of time and make your group booking sooner. Also the exchange rate between CZK (Ceska Koruna, the only official currency) and EUR (EURO, mostly used all over Europe, EU) and other currencies changes a bit, so the prices may vary slightly throughout a year. Again, the only workaround is to book ahead enough - the price will be fixed to the date the valid booking has been finished.
