Great exhibition in the Municipal House at Prague

The Municipal House is the end of January show Bimba, alias Bohumil Konecny (1918 - 1990), forged academic painter and illustrator. His name is unknown, although the wider public, but it is the author of a series of paintings that many people he knows intimately. For example, they are illustrations to books Jaroslava Foglara, Otakara Batlicka, the magazine front, creating an ad for the company Bata, Prazdroj, Petrof, Jablonex.

Bohumil Konecny is also the author of comics heroine Amazon, which his admirer Peter Sadecky after his emigration to Germany modified by red stars on their foreheads and created it as a woman Octobriana October Revolution - the alleged underground comic hero created by the USSR. This legend was in the West at the beginning of the 70th years of great success and response (pop-punk singer Billy Idol had it tattooed on your arm, admired her and David Bowie).

You have the last couple of days to visit this unique exhibition. The end is already on January 31, 2009.

"Making Bohumil Konecny was once well known among the public. Witnesses today to remember the legendary cover of magazines and book illustrations, with a clear signature Bimbo´s. Due to the previous regime falling gradually his work and he was slow in forgetting. And so you have just a few of his friends and a handful of collectors, aware of what was an excellent draftsman.

When in 1994, four years from Bimbo´s death, held in Mlada Boleslav Gallery first comprehensive exhibition to which I was largely involved. The exhibition raised the long term public interest in his paintings and illustrations. Then me in a dream but even the suggestion, thanks friend John Hosnedl for thirteen years later, made even more exhibition in Bimbo´s birthplace in Pilsen. And even I thought that Bimbo´s exhibition held in the Municipal House in Prague. I'd like to mention one more interesting: when I was sent to a museum in the western U.S., Texas Forth Worthu definitive copy images with westernovou theme, its staff do not show his astonishment, and only regretted that the final is not a native American, so that his paintings could hang together with parts Rassella and Remington ...

Bimbo creation of a friendship with him and influenced not only enriched my youth, but in fact all my life. Once I gave him a promise that I will strive for its rehabilitation, and I have a good feeling that it thrives. I believe that the work of Bohumil Konecny - Bimbo will have in the future of their admirers and supporters."
