Febiofest

One of the most popular film festivals in our country has already started (28th March) and now it is travelling across various Czech cities. During only one week (ending 4th April) you were able to see 249 movies, which were divided in various genres and themes (like Latin American Panorama, European Masters Cinema, Cool & Crazy etc.). Every genre had its own cinema, but all the halls were in one multiplex cinema called Village Cinemas at Andel (one of Prague’s most famous streets). There were also two small projections in two separate cinemas, but the main event was hosted by Village Cinemas.

When we talk about Febiofest, we could not forget about the Music Fest. The bands were playing at the garages under the cinema and the atmosphere was really „underground.“ The most shining stars were Hypnotix and Mango Gadzi (France). Sometimes the garages were absolutely full and the air was really bad, but it’s the atmosphere, that keeps you there. Of course if you just wanted to chill out a bit and just have fun, there were plenty of opportunities to spend your money for.Febiofest is one of the best places to meet many interesting peoples, friends and enjoy films with limited projections and hear music, that you wouldn’t normally know about. People had a chance to see various movies. From western about the famous villain (The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford), social drama, directed by well-known actor Ben Affleck (Gone Baby Gone) where the title role was played by his brother Casey Affleck, to the brand new movie The Breath by Asian director Kim Ki-Duk. The festival started with a presentation of Sir Alan Parker, who was promoting his new movie. During the whole festival, you were able to see and ask for a sign of mostly independent-movie-stars like Nina Menkes, Nae Caranfil, Josse Stelling and Roy Andersson. The programme was really packed up. You could have seen a new movie every day and nearly every hour, there was a projection starting. The last projections, which were highly attended, started from 23:00PM, so even if you were at work/school during the whole day, you were able to see your favourite movie.
