Plan your winter in Prague!

In Prague starts lovely Christmas atmosphere. Last week was 1st little snowing in Prague and now shops starts offering Christmas products. And it will not be take a long and you can enjoy most favourite Prague Christmas markets - this year starts on 28 November. In the streets, you will smell roasted chestnuts and sweets and be able to warm your hands with a glass of hot punch. Naturally, you will taste all these goodies and then, perhaps, you can take in an opera performance. Christmas in the Prague is one of the most beautiful times of the year, and people savour it with all their senses. It will be our pleasure inform you about all details of this event, stay tuned for more information. Now, I would like to introduce you little of Czech Christmas days description.

Czech Christmas celebration days:


5 December: St Nicholas Day

On the evening of 5 December you’re likely to witness the spectacle of adults or teenagers dressed up as a trio of St Nicholas (dressed as a bishop), an angel and a devil wandering through the streets.

24 December: Christmas Eve

The main Christmas celebration in the Czech Republic - the time when presents are exchanged and a traditional Christmas dinner (carp soup, fried carp, carp surprise, etc.) is served.

25 December: Christmas Day

More Christmas gatherings with extended family, but the main celebration in the Czech Republic takes place on Christmas Eve.

26 December: Second Day

Celebrated as Boxing Day in the UK and Canada, the Czech Republic officially recognizes the date as the "Second Day of Christmas", or St. Stephen´s Day, as its celebrated in many other countries. St. Stephen was the first Christian martyr, but the date is generally celebrated as the exztension of Christmas that its Czech name implies.
