The Night of Witches in Prague

 alt
How did you spend your Night of Witches(called also Philip-Jacob´s night) this year? Prague was celebrating at many places and in many ways. In a small town in the urban district Prague-East one of the biggest Czech bonfires was made. It was more than 20 metres high, made of woodpile, burning for about 2 hours and could be veiwed from a long distance (in kilometres). In the meadows around the center of Prague, there were open air parties with fires, music bands and hundreds of witches flown from all over Prague.

Favourite tourist places in Prague, such as Botanic Gardens in Troja, or Yellow resort area have had thein own programme, music halls were fully filled - for example Lucerna danced in the rhytm of music band Morcheeba, and clubs like Abaton presented one of first promoters of drum´n´bass and jungle in England, Nicky Blackmarket in Get Punked night.

Night of the Witches is one of the most favourite feast day in year. Everybody is celebrating this day, mostly outside, women are dressed like witches and on the occasion they are carrying the broom. Some of the tradions in Czech republic are jumping Gross the fire and burning the doll-witches made from straw.
